Wright has held the school-record for sacks in a game and in a career since 1985. He is a three-time All-PSAC East selection, earned AP Little All-America Honorable Mention honors as a senior in 1985, and was named to KU's All-Time Football Team during the 100 Seasons of KU Football celebration as a defensive end.

The Pottstown native posted 25.5 sacks in his four-year career. Wright notched 14 as a senior, third-most in KU single-season history, which were catapulted by a school-record seven in one game against East Stroudsburg on Oct. 5, 1985 at University Field.

Wright graduated second in school history with 297 career tackles, two shy of fellow All-Time Team member Larry Mertz's record at the time.

In his senior season, Wright posted team-high totals of 109 tackles, 14 sacks and three blocked punts. The ECAC honored Wright on six occasions that season: four times he was named to the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll and twice he was selected the ECAC Division II Defensive Player of the Week.

In his school-record game against East Stroudsburg, Wright had 19 tackles, including 10 solos and a school-record seven quarterback sacks for -45 yards. He was named the PSAC Player of the Week following that ESU game. Other top games that year came against Salem College, where he had 18 tackles and two quarterback sacks; Millersville, 18 tackles and two sacks, and Bloomsburg, 10 tackles and two blocked kicks.

Wright currently works as a driver for Stroehmann Bakeries. He and his wife, Demetria, have four children – two sons and two daughters – and one granddaughter.
