Peter Riffle

Pete “Lefty” Riffle was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1966, after leading Kutztown baseball to its first PSAC championship and the institution's first PSAC team championship in its 15 years as a member of the conference.

Riffle set school records that year for innings pitched (67.2), wins in a season (6), strikeouts in a season (75), and strikeouts per nine innings pitched (9.98). Over his four-year career at Kutztown, Riffle set 22 school records, staking his claim as one of the finest hurlers in school history. He recorded two victories in the 1966 NAIA District 19 Tournament and received All-PSAC honors twice. His professional playing career was cut short in 1968 due to an eye injury.

Riffle has been a learning support teacher for 23 years with Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa. He is also employed by the Boscov’s Travelcenter as an outside salesperson. He resides is Adamstown, Pa.
