Richard Campeotto (1954-55, 58) was a standout lineman and linebacker for the Kutztown football team.  After earning Most Outstanding Freshman honors in 1954, Campeotto was named a Wigwam All-American as a sophomore in 1955.  He then spent two years in the United States Army, where he was captain of the Ft. Carson, CO., Football team, playing center and linebacker.  He was named second-team All-Army in 1956, and played on the 1957 European All-Army Championship team.  He returned to Kutztown in 1958, but an automobile accident forced Campeotto to serve as an assistant coach for most of the season. He was named one of Kutztown’s top male athletes of the 1950s.
