Pete Miller was the head men’s lacrosse coach at KU from 1973-78, assistant baseball coach from 1970-71, and assistant softball coach from 1979-81. The lacrosse team had winning records five of the six years during his tenure, with a best mark of 11-2. The Golden Bears led the nation in scoring from 1975-77. The team advanced to the NCAA Division II nation championships twice and was ranked nationally five times. In 1976 and 1977, the KU laxers were ranked eighth in the country for Division II. Miller coached three All-Americans and two KU Hall of Famers. The 1981 softball team participated in the NCAA Division III tournament and the baseball team went to the PSAC championships during his tenure as an assistant. A 1967 graduate of Syracuse, Miller continues to work at KU as a p[professor. He is chairman of the Anthropology/Sociology department. His wife, Susan, who is also a professor at KU, coached the Golden Bears women’s lacrosse team in the 1970s. The couple resides in Kutztown. They have on son.
