Raymond Loose (’17) was a two-year starter during one of the school’s most successful eras in men’s basketball.  Loose was the third-leading scorer for Kutztown, then Keystone State Normal School, on the 1915-16 team that finished the season 15-3.  The next year, Loose led the team to a perfect 18-0 mark, including a 24-11 win over Mansfield Normal School to win the Pennsylvania State Normal School title – Keystone’s first-ever championship.  Loose was the team’s leading scorer, netting 293 points.  After graduating in 1917 with a degree in education, Loose went on to teach at Ontelaunee High School (now Schuylkill Valley), where he coached future Kutztown hall of famer Arlan Baver and fellow 2001 inductee Sammy Spayd. Loose passed away in July 1982.  He was named one of Kutztown’s Top 30 Athletes of the 20th Century last year.
