Mercedes Van Wagner was a two-time All-PSACĀ East forward and the 2005 PSAC East Freshman of the Year for the Golden Bear women's basketball team. A preseason All-PSAC East First Team selection in 2007-08, she followed those expectations by capturing First Team honors following her senior season while averaging 8.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Van Wagner became the 14th 1,000-point scorer in program history during the 2007-08 season and closed her career with 1,067 points. She graduated as the program's career leader in rebounds (839) and blocked shots (199). She also ranked second in career field goal percentage at 51.2%.

Originally from Mullica Hill, N.J., Van Wagner continued to rank in the top 10 among KU's single-season leaders in field goal percentage (twice) and blocked shots (twice). Kutztown won 48 games over her career with two playoff appearances and a trip to the PSAC semifinals in 2006.

Van Wagner, who went on to play professionally in Germany in 2008-09, was a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and graduatedĀ cum laudeĀ in 2008 with degrees in elementary education and coaching.
