Women's tennis downs Penn State Harrisburg, 6-1, for second victory in as many days

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Kutztown women's tennis fashioned its second 6-1 win in two days on the Keystone Courts. This time it was Penn State Harrisburg on the other end of the ledger in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) and Jessika Klo (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) blanked Cassandra Ginder and Carissa Fallon, 6-0, at second doubles, but the doubles point was still in the balance after the Nittany Lions answered with a 6-0 win of their own from Olivia Bandini and Sarah Shaub at No. 1.

The Golden Bears (4-6) prevailed, though, with Brianna Wendling (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and Angela Moncavage (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) taking care of Chelsy Funebe and Emily Zinni, 6-2, at No. 3.

Jess Marks (Allentown, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) won by matching 6-0, 6-0 scores over Ginder at No. 3, before Penn State Harrisburg (2-4) got on the board with a 6-1, 6-1 win from Bandini at No. 1.

It was all Kutztown from there. Lazarchak defeated Shaub 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, Moncavage shut out Zinni at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0, Klo did the same to Funebe at No. 5 and Wendling downed Fallon 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4.

Due to forecasted rain, Saturday's PSAC East match at Bloomsburg has been postponed. KU is scheduled to play Chestnut Hill on the road Sunday at 1 p.m., before making up the match at Bloomsburg on Monday, April 3, at 3 p.m.
