PHILADELPHIA -- Kutztown's modest two-match win streak came to a close Sunday as host Chestnut Hill defeated the Golden Bear women's tennis team in non-league play for the second time this season, 7-0.
The Griffins (9-10) moved in front 1-0 after sweeping doubles by 6-1 scores at all three flights and would go on to capture all six singles flights in straight sets.
Kutztown (4-7) found it tough to get anything going against CHC, a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) semifinalist a season ago. The Griffins dropped no more than two games in any singles match on their way to the shutout victory.
Brianna Wendling (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) took a pair of games off Claudia Rasilla in the second set of a 6-0, 6-2 setback at No. 4, while
Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) won a game in each set of a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Alison Isaac at No. 2.
Kutztown travels to Bloomsburg tomorrow to resume PSAC East play at 3 p.m.
