FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Regionally ranked Fairmont State swept the Kutztown University women's tennis team, 7-0, in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears only had five players on this weekend's trip to West Virginia, but the Falcons proved too powerful with 6-0 victories in both doubles matches and straight set wins at all five singles flights.
Fairmont State came into the match seventh in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings and certainly looked the part with its performance.
Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) managed to capture four games from Elodie Buclin in her second singles match, falling 6-1, 6-3. The only other Golden Bear (7-10) to win more than a game was
Jessika Klo (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), who claimed two, in a 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Mackenzie Sorton at No. 5.
Kutztown returns home to the Keystone Courts to close out its season with a PSAC East match against Lock Haven this coming Tuesday, April 18, at 4 p.m.
