LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Kutztown University men's track and field team kicked off the weekend with a strong performance at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Championship hosted at Bucknell University Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears sit fourth out of 12 teams with 15.5 points after day one.

Jumper Jason Mraz (Edison, N.J./Edison) started the day strong for KU, earning a bronze medal finish in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.45 meters. Nate Schaeffer (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) also earned a point for KU in the event with an eighth place finish.

Jacob Solonoski (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) also had a solid performance in the weight throw, earning seventh place and two points in the weight throw with a 15.60-meter throw. 

The distance medley relay team of Port Habalar (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport), Matt Salazar (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), Domenick Wallace (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills), and Adam Brocato (Reisterstown, Md./Calvert Hall) ran the 4th-best time in KU history (10:20.05). That foursome finished sixth in the event.

James Washburn (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River), Michael Fellin (Sheppton, Pa./Marian Catholic), and Kyle Love (Lansdowne, Pa./Bonner-Prendergast) qualified for Sunday's finals in the 400-meter 60-meter, and 60-meter hurdles respectively. Washburn set a personal best in his 400-meter dash, while Fellin's 6.93 in the 60-meter dash is tied for the third-best mark in program history.  Love finished eighth in the hurdles.

The Golden Bear's other point getter was Anthony DeFusco (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), who finished fifth in the long jump, earning four points. 

Owen Weaver (Baldwinsville, Pa./C.W. Baker) and Darien Clarke (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) represented KU in the heptathlon, with both of them setting multiple personal bets in each individual event. The heptathlon concludes on Sunday with the 1000-meters, 60-meter hurdles, and the pole vault.

The second and final day of the PSAC Indoor Championships from Bucknell will kick off on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
