MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – While the Kutztown outdoor track & field season technically begins this Saturday for the majority of the program, freshman Dain Lenz (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) and senior Owen Weaver (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) headed south during KU's spring break to compete in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina.
 
The duo will compete in the decathlon over the course of Thursday and Friday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C., with 12 other competitors.
 
On Thursday, Weaver earned a top finish of third overall in the long jump at 6.35m (20-10) and had a pair of fourth place finishes in the 100m (11.28) and 400m (52.21), respectively. Lenz's best placing came in the long jump (6.30m) and high jump (1.79m), ending fifth.
 
Weaver and Lenz will be back in action Friday with the 110H, 1500m, discus, pole vault and javelin. Action begins at 9:00 a.m., with the 110H.
