DANVILLE, Pa. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) and
Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) earned top 10 finishes and Kutztown's four scorers were separated by just eight shots as the Golden Bears claimed third-place at Thursday's Husky Invitational hosted by Bloomsburg at Frosty Valley Resort.
The course played tough for all competitors, with medalist Ryleigh Faust from the host Huskies going 10-over par 83.
Graham, coming off back-to-back wins to start her collegiate career, sat inside the top five early before settling in a two-way tie for seventh at round's end. The Boiling Springs grad notched a pair of par 5 birdies during her round, first at the 524-yard fifth and later at the 442-yard 13th. Graham shot 17-over 90 on the day.
Klements, another talented first year Golden Bear, picked up her second top 10 in three tournaments with a 93 (+20). The Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J., native carded six pars on the 5984-yard course. Klements tied for 10th with Jefferson's Ammala Moua.
Senior
Grace Babinchak (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) was two shots back of teammate Klements, using two pars to shoot 95 and tie for 13th in the 42-player field.
Kutztown's scoring quartet concluded with
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) in 17th. Stutz also had a pair of pars on her way to a 98.
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West), who recorded a 105, had one par and put all five Bears inside the top 25 in the individual standings (22nd).
Millersville defeated Bloomsburg in a tiebreaker after both teams shot 358 (+66). Kutztown was third at 376 (+84) well ahead of fourth-place Jefferson (405, +113). Faust outpaced runner-up Maddy Buhler of Scranton by two shots to win the individual title.
The Golden Bears' busy stretch to end the fall season is set to continue Sunday with the Gettysburg Fall Invitational at Hanover Country Club. Kutztown will then go to Havre de Grace, Md., next Monday and Tuesday for the Battle at Bulle Rock to put a wrap on the fall.
