FLEETWOOD, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's golf team wrapped up play in the Kutztown Fall Invitational with a second-place team finish at Moselem Springs Golf Club, Monday. Senior
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West), playing as an individual, finished as the runner-up in the individual standings.
Cohen shot a career-best 81 in Sunday's opening round, only to better it in impressive fashion during the final round. The Jeffersonville, N.Y., native recorded a pair of birdies and 10 pars to turn in a round of 7-over par 74. Cohen's birdies came on the par 3, 145-yard fifth and par 3, 150-yard 13th. She shot 3-over 38 going out and 1-over 36 on the back nine.
Cohen's two-day total of 155 left her one shot behind medalist Sara Veara of Shepherd (75-79=154).
Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) secured her third straight top three finish by recording a 78 in both rounds of the tournament for a 36-hole total of 156. The junior recorded her lone birdie on hole No. 2, a par 4 playing at 365 yards. She went on to make five pars on the front nine to make the turn at 1-over 36 before two more pars on the back nine.
Freshman
Eva Moawad (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) made it back-to-back top 10 finishes with a seventh-place showing at Moselem Springs. Moawad shot a second round 87 and finished the tournament in seventh with a 170 total after an 83 on Sunday. The newcomer from Harrisburg, Pa., carded par or better on the first five holes, including a birdie on No. 5. She totaled six pars in her round overall.
Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) took 14th with a 178 after a 91 Monday. She had five pars in her final round, four coming on the back nine.
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) and
Livia Andov (Pekanbaru, Indonesia) tied for 17th with two-day totals of 182. Stutz had a birdie and three pars to shoot 91 in the second round, while Andov had four pars to finish her final round with a 93.
Alana Cristino (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) and
Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) joined Cohen in playing the tournament as individuals. Cristino had a birdie and a par Monday, finishing 20th overall (90-99=189). Prindiville placed 28th with a 209 (108-101).
Bloomsburg overcame a four-shot deficit at the start of the second round to take the team title with a 115-over 675 (341-334). The Golden Bears slipped to second with a 684 (337-347) and Jefferson took third at 702 (350-352).
Kutztown will travel out to Erie this weekend for the Michael Corbett Fall Classic hosted by Gannon University at Whispering Woods Golf Club. Play begins Sunday.
