MOHNTON, Pa. -- Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) and
Eva Moawad (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) each shot 88 to tie for seventh in the individual standings and the Kutztown University golf team kicked off its spring season with a third-place finish at Tuesday afternoon's Alvernia Spring Invitational at LedgeRock Golf Club.
Graham paced the Maroon and Gold with a team-high eight pars during a warm and windy round. She made the turn at 4-over par after shooting 40 on the front nine before caring a 48 coming in on the par 72 track playing at 5,877 yards.
Moawad collected three of her four pars during a front nine 42 before shooting 46 over the final nine holes.
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) tied for 13th in the 28-player field with a 96 (+24). The junior from Prescott, Wisc., trailed only Graham in pars by a Golden Bear with six.
Freshman
Livia Andov (Pekanbaru, Indonesia/) was the lone KU player to register a birdie when she carded a three on the par 4, 255-yard 12th. Andov added two pars and tied for 15th overall with a round of 99.
Alana Cristino (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) rounded out the lineup for head coach
Robert Fisher. Cristino sank a par putt at the par 4 sixth and totaled 107 on the day.
Brooke Smith of Catholic shot 8-over 80 to win the tournament and lead her team to a 21-stroke victory in the team standings. The Cardinals finished at 345 (+57), with Seton Hill second at 366 (+78) and the Golden Bears third at 371 (+83). Host Alvernia was fourth at 390 (+102) and Lock Haven completed the field in fifth at 413 (+125).
Kutztown will begin a busy stretch of four tournaments in eight days this Saturday, April 4, at the Millersville Women's Invitational at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club in Quarryville, Pa.
