Curtis nets winner as No. 7 women’s soccer posts fourth straight shutout

The Golden Bears’ current shutout streak sits at 431:22

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -- Junior defender Bridget Curtis (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) netted her third goal of the season as the No. 7 Kutztown University women's soccer team (9-0-3, 8-0-2 PSAC East) remained unbeaten on the season, downing Millersville (4-3-3, 4-3-2 PSAC East) 1-0 at Pucillo Field late Wednesday afternoon.

Curtis' lone goal in the match came in the 65th minute when she headed the ball in off a corner. The Warrington, Pa. native sits third on KU in goals of the season despite primarily playing as a center back. Melissa Ulrich (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) was awarded the assist on the goal in only her third appearance of the season. It was also the second career assist for the senior midfielder from Harrisburg.

The Golden Bears' defense was elite yet again, posting their fourth straight shutout and sixth on the season. KU outshot Millersville 7-4 in the game and didn't allow a shot on goal, outshooting the Marauders 5-0. KU's goals-against average (0.545) is third in the PSAC and 22nd in the nation. The Golden Bears' current shutout streak sits at 431:22.

Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) continues to pose the biggest attacking threat for the Golden Bears, registering three shots on goal, while midfielder Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) put one shot on frame. Cassandra Baker (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) didn't have to make a save in the contest, registering her sixth clean sheet of the season. Bella Fiorenza made four saves in between the sticks for the Marauders.

The Golden Bears move to 26 points on the season and still remain first in the PSAC East with six regular season games to go. KU heads to Shippensburg this Saturday, Oct. 14. That game kicks off at 3 p.m.
