KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown Univeristy men's tennis team had its final match of the fall season on Saturday afternoon, and just as it did the day before, KU came out on top, defeating Frostburg State 5-2 in a non-conference match on Keystone Courts.
The Golden Bears (3-2 overall), who were victorious 9-0 over Mary Baldwin on Friday, finished the fall season on a two-match win streak.
Kutztown won all three of its doubles matches.
Gonzalo Barcelo (San Pedro, Argentina/Nuestra Senora del Socorro) and
Joaquin Perez (Pachuca, Mexico/Escuela Americana) won 6-3 at No. 1,
Sebastian Arizpe (Puebla, Mexico/Colegio Humboldt de Puebla) and
Justin Gincauskas (Mississauga, Ontario/Cawthra Park Secondary) were victorious at No. 2 at 6-2 and
Jacob Bosler (Elkton, Md./Elkton) and
Lucas Cherniak (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Escuela Superior de Comercio Carlos Pellegrini) earned the win at No. 3 at 7-6.
KU then won four of six singles matches.
Neal Devkaran (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic) won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3, Arizpe finished 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4,
Emmitt Robinson (Ingersoll, Ontario/Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute) recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 and Gincauskas won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6.
Kutztown may have qualifiers compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Individual Championships at Bloomsburg University from Saturday, Oct. 1, through Monday, Oct. 3. KU's next team match will be in the spring, at Bucknell University on Saturday, Feb. 25.
