KUTZTOWN, Pa. – During the summer months, Kutztown athletics takes a break from competition. So, what do Golden Bear student-athletes like to do in their down time? Over the next month, we will be catching up with some KU Golden Bears.
Emmitt Robinson (Ingersoll, Ontario/Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute) – Men's Tennis – Senior
What is your favorite thing about summer?
- My favorite thing about summer is getting to come home and spend time with my family and friends back home in Canada.
What is your favorite thing to do during the summer?
- I spend a lot of time playing golf in the summer, as well as working a job and hanging out with friends.
Favorite vacation spot you've been to? One place you haven't been to yet, but would like to?
- Last summer I backpacked through Europe. Paris was amazing and meeting up with my German friends in Germany made it a super special place too. I didn't get to Italy so it's probably top of my list for future trips.
What have you been up to/current plans this summer from a sport perspective?
- As far as tennis goes, I've been on the court a lot recently getting ready for the upcoming season and I'm actually a couple days into volunteering at a pro tournament in Toronto which is something I've done for eight years now.
What's a song you can jam out to that makes you feel like it's summer?
- I listen to a variety of music so there are a lot of artists I could put here. There's a band from home called the Tragically Hip that my friends and I will listen to a lot in the summer. Lake Fever and Fireworks are a couple of my favorites.
What do you miss about KU during the summer months?
- I miss the team the most during summer. We are a great group of guys and playing tennis together every day during the season and spending time together off-court is a lot of fun.
Favorite place to be on campus when it's a nice, sunny and warm day?
- Maybe it's cliche but I think the tennis courts are a great place to be on a sunny day. The grass area in front of the library is nice too.
Favorite summer dessert/treat?
- Being at home means I get to enjoy my grandma's cooking. Her raspberry pie is a great summer treat.
Favorite way to keep cool during the summer?
- I love to cool off by jumping in my grandparents' pool.
Any summer traditions you do with friends/family that you enjoy?
- I have several summer traditions. Lots of golf including on Father's Day with my dad, visiting family, and playing wiffle ball and pool basketball with my friends.
What do you look forward to most about returning to KU in August?
- It's going to sound corny, but I'm really looking forward to spending more time with my girlfriend when we're back at school. Not only are we from different towns, but we're from different countries, so it makes time spent together more meaningful when we're on campus.
