BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- Gonzalo Barcelo (San Pedro, Argentina/Nuestra Senora del Socorro) and Joaquin Perez (Pachuca, Mexico/Escuela Americana) took part in both the singles and doubles draws, Saturday, at the PSAC Individual Championships.

Barcelo advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles bracket with a hard-fought 7-6 (6), 3-6, 10-8 victory over Lukas Cabue of Mercyhurst. In his next match, Barcelo fell by matching 6-4 scores to 2021 semifinalist Ruben Acuna of Edinboro.

Perez took his opening set to a tiebreaker against Acuna in the first round, but the Edinboro entry held on for a 7-6 (4), 7-5 straight set win.

Teamed together in the doubles draw, Barcelo and Perez played another tiebreaker against Bloomsburg's Vishesh Patel and Oliver Wiesemann in the first round. Patel and Wiesemann, playing on their home courts at the Burt Reese Tennis Center, prevailed 9-8 (3) to reach the semifinals.

Kutztown will resume its 2022-23 season Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, on the road against Division I Bucknell.
