Baumgardner, Clarke finish up day two of the 12th annual Mondschein Multi

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Cameron Baumgardner (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) and Darien Clark of the Kutztown University men's track & field team finished day two of the 12th annual Mondschein Multi, Wednesday, at Andre Reed Stadium after competing in the final five events, following five events Tuesday.
 
Baumgardner ended his first career decathlon with an impressive, fifth place showing, earning 4,770 points. Clarke, who ranked fifth after Tuesday's events, finished the Multi in eighth with 3,957 points. There were 11 total competitors.
 
A sophomore from Emmitsburg, Md., Baumgardner rose one spot from sixth after Tuesday, where he sat with 2698 points. Baumgardner had a high mark of a second place finish in the 110 hurdles, crossing the finish line in 17.37 for a personal-best time. He also had a PR in the pole vault, placing fifth with a best clearance of 3.25m (10'7.95"). Baumgardner was also in the top-five in the javelin with a throw of 38.97m (127'10.25").
 
Clarke, a junior native of Middletown, Del., made his mark in the discus, placing fourth overall with a personal-best throw of 21.18m (69'5.86").
 
Oscar Jopp from Lafayette won the decathlon, finishing with 5,814 points. Bloomsburg's Doug Walsh placed second at 5,225 points, Stephen Gray of Thomas was third with 5,167 points and Ben Kissell from Seton Hill was fourth at 4,981 points.
 
Kutztown will be competing this weekend at the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell University on Friday, April 15, and Saturday, April 16.
