SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Xavier Feliciano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) had a team-high second place showing in the pole vault as the Kutztown University men's track & field team finished day two, Friday, at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at Shippensburg University in fourth place overall in the team standings.
Feliciano placed second out of 14 competitors, earning eight points, leading a group of six Golden Bears in the event. Jacob Wogan recorded three points for a sixth-place finish and
Andrew Bosche (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) tallied 1.5 points in seventh with a personal-best clear of 4.28m (14-0.5).
Zach Austen (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) jumped to a season-best mark of 4.28m (14-0.5).
Also in field events, both
Anthony DeFusco (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and
Jordon Floyd (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) earned team points in the long jump. DeFusco received four points for a fifth-place finish at 6.81m (22-4.25) and Floyd received two points for a seventh-place finish at 6.57m (21-6.75).
The 4x1 relay team consisting of
Savaughn Hebron (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy),
Andrew Bosche (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt),
Zach Austen (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and
Teagan Fortna (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) qualified for Saturday's final with a top-8 finish at 45.24.
Andrew Sulon (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) ran to a personal-best time of 9:50.93 in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the finish line sixth out of 16 competitors.
Darien Clarke (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) wrapped up competition in the decathlon with 4211 points. He had a personal-best throw of 31.62m (103-9) in the javelin and a PR in both the discus (23.89m, 78-4) and 110H (18.39).
Kutztown sits in fourth place in the team standings following day two of competition. KU has earned 23.5 points overall. Shippensburg leads the pack with 84 points, followed by East Stroudsburg with 46.5 points and Slippery Rock with 45.5.
Action on the third and final day, Saturday, begins at 11 a.m., with the shot put and triple jump. Nine Golden Bears will compete in individual events.
