WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Running his first collegiate 400m hurdle event, freshman
Josh Paul (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was the leader of the pack, winning the event, highlighting the Kutztown University men's track & field team Saturday at the Bill Butler Invitational, hosted by West Chester University.
Seven Golden Bears achieved personal-bests in their respective events, including
Savaughn Hebron (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) in the 400m,
Devin Carlson-Swank (Elliottsburg, Pa./West Perry) in the pole vault,
Jordon Floyd (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) in the long jump,
Joan Estrella (Reading, Pa./Reading) in the javelin (second at 51.38m) and
Jason Staunton (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) in both the hammer and discus. Floyd also tied a PR in the high jump.
Xavier Feliciano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) and
Conor Wogan (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) finished second and third respectively in the pole vault, the former with a best jump of 4.55m and the latter at 4.40m.
Anthony DeFusco (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) leaped to a high mark of 6.76m to place second in the long jump, just ahead of Floyd's 6.60m jump for third.
Larry Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was third in the hammer at 47.71m and
Tyler Fenske (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) placed fourth in the discus at 41.89m.
Kutztown is back in action next Saturday, April 17, at the Coach P Invitational, hosted by Moravian College.
