HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team kicked off its spring break trip on Sunday afternoon, falling to West Liberty University in its opening match 9-0.
 
Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) won a combined six games in her singles and doubles matches to lead the Golden Bears playing at the number one spot in each discipline.
 
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area) and Mackenzie Delp (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) each claimed a game in their appearances at two and three singles, respectively, fighting hard against a strong West Liberty side.
 
Kutztown also secured games at the fourth and fifth spot with Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) taking two in her match and Kara Urland (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) claiming one during game one of her own.
 
KU gets to enjoy a day off Monday in South Carolina before getting back to the court on Tuesday, Mar. 13 against Belmont Abbey University at 2 p.m.
