SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – Freshman
Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) won her singles and doubles matches Monday in the Kutztown University women's tennis team's 7-2 road setback at Shepherd University in non-conference action.
At the second flight of singles, Capoferri won 12-of-14 games in a 6-0, 6-2 victory. She played at the top flight of doubles action with senior teammates
Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), and only gave up one game in an 8-1 victory.
Konas turned in a valiant effort at No. 1 singles. She dropped the first set, 6-4, but rallied with a 7-5 victory in the second set to force a tiebreaker. Konas won seven points in the final frame, but fell 10-7 in singles.
Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) had a strong second set, winning five combined games in her 6-1, 6-4 defeat.
Kutztown returns to action tomorrow, Tuesday, April 11, for a conference matchup against Bloomsburg University beginning at 2 p.m. at KU's Keystone Courts.
