Complete Game Notes

SERIES HISTORY:
Saturday marks the 11th meeting between Kutztown and California (PA). KU was 7-0-1 in the first eight games against the Vulcans, but dropped back-to-back games in 2012 and 2013. Kutztown and California (PA) played every year from 1990-97, with the Golden Bears winning the last five meetings following a 30-30 tie in 1992.

PSAC EAST CHAMPS: Kutztown won its third PSAC East title in program history, joining previous title teams from 1980 and 2011. KU went 7-0 in the PSAC East, its first perfect PSAC season in school history.

STATE GAME: KU will play in the PSAC Championship game for the third time in school history. KU has a 1-1 record in the "State Game", falling to Clarion State in 1980, 15-14, and winning the program's only PSAC Championship in 2011 with a 21-14 win over Slippery Rock.

TURNAROUND OF THE CENTURY:  The Golden Bears have turned three straight losses into seven straight wins for the first time in school history.

WINNING STREAK: Kutztown is riding a seven-game winning streak, the second-longest active streak in the PSAC behind California (PA)'s 13-game streak. The longest winning streak in school history is nine from 2010.

WINNING SEASON: KU has secured its third straight winning season, extending head coach Jim Clements' career streak to 11 straight seasons.

LAST WEEK: Kutztown completed its first perfect PSAC regular season in program history on Saturday, as the Golden Bears defeated Cheyney 32-6 on a sunny afternoon at Andre Reed Stadium. James Wah Jr. (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) finished with 175 yards on 16 carries and a career-high three touchdowns for an average of 10.9 yards per carry.

RECORD-BREAKING BLOCKERS: Kutztown has broken the single-game rushing record twice in its last 17 games. KU's 459 rushing yards against ESU in Week 7 are a school-record, surpassing the previous record of 400-even against Millersville last season. The offensive line was the same for both games - Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest), Mike Italiani (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), Ben Cregger (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove), Brian Robbins (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Skyler Panchari (Pottsville, Pa./Blue Mountain).

PROTECT THE QUARTERBACK: KU is the best in the PSAC at protecting the quarterback, allowing a league-low 1.00 sacks per game. Earlier this season, KU did not allow a sack in more than a month, a school-record-span of four straight games. KU's 10 sacks allowed are the fewest in school history, besting the previous record of 15 in 2003.

RUSHING DEFENSE: Kutztown ranks fifth in the PSAC in rushing defense, allowing 113.1 yards per game. It is the second-best mark in the modern era at KU, behind a record 97.2 yards per game in 1995.

RUSHING ATTACK: Kutztown ranks second in the PSAC, 14th in Division II, at 243.9 rushing yards per game. It had a school-record 459 rushing yards in Week 7, the second time in the last two years KU has broken the school rushing record. The school-record for rushing yards per game in a season is 250.4 from 1977. KU has run for more yards than it has passed in 8-of-10 games.

RUSHING RECORD: The Golden Bears have rushed for 2,439 yards this season, 137 yards shy of tying the single-season school record of 2,576 from 2011. KU averages 243.9 per game.

MOVING FORWARD: Kutztown has rushed for 100 or more yards in 18 straight games, dating back to 2015. Under head coach Jim Clements, KU is 18-6 when rushing for triple-digit yardage.

RECORDS BELONG TO REYNOLDS: At East Stroudsburg on Oct. 15, Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) broke school-records for rushing yards (261) and all-purpose yards (345) in a game. This season, he became the youngest player in school history to run for 1,000 yards in a season.

PERFECT SINCE QB CHANGE: Since Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) took over at starting quarterback in Week 4 at Millersville, KU is 6-0 with DiGalbo, 7-0 overall (DiGalbo missed Week 10). He has averaged 213.5 passing yards and 68.7 rushing yards since becoming the starter. For the season, he has 17 total touchdowns, including a school-record eight rushing touchdowns for a quarterback.

ACCURATE PASSER: Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), a redshirt-freshman, ranks second in the PSAC and 14th in Division II in completion percentage at 66.2 percent. It is the third-best single-season mark in school history. Kevin Morton holds the school-record at 68.8 percent from 2012.

RUNNING QUARTERBACK: Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) has written his own record book for rushing records for a quarterback. He ran for 126 yards in Week 6 vs. Bloomsburg, including an 82-yard touchdown run - school-records for the longest and most rushing yards by a quarterback in a game. His eight rushing touchdowns this season are a school-record for a quarterback and ninth-most overall, while his three rushing touchdowns in a game Week 8 vs. Lock Haven are the most in recorded history for a KU quarterback. His 418 rushing yards this season are third-most in recorded school history by a quarterback, behind Shane Martin's 431 in 2008 and Terry Woginrich's record-599 in 1971.

SACK LUNCH: KU leads the PSAC and ranks fifth in Division II at 4.00 sacks per game, second-most in school history behind a record 4.70 per game in 1985. KU has had seven, eight and nine sacks in a game this season, all in the top-five in KU single-game history.

NO FIELD GOALS FOR US: KU was the final team in Division II to attempt a field goal this season, attempting its first of the season in Week 9 at Shippensburg in a double-overtime victory.

KICK BLOCKER: Sherief Sutton (York, Pa./Central York) has three blocked kicks this season, all coming in the last two weeks. The KU single-season record is five by Pete Mendez in 2000 and Michael Baldwin in 2005. As a team, KU has six blocked kicks this season, one shy of tying the 2005 school-record.

THE REYNOLDS RAP: R-So. Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) is the eighth, and youngest Golden Bear to run for 1,000 yards in a season (previous seven were all in junior or senior seasons). He ranks second in the PSAC with 1,151 rushing yards, fourth-most in KU single-season history, and third with 14 touchdowns. He is 1-of-8 players in school history to average 100+ rushing yards in a season and the first since 2001. At 115.1 yards per game, Reynolds is 1-of-2 players in the PSAC to currently average 100+ per game, and is on pace to rank third in school history in single-season rushing yardage.

POINTS SCORED RECORD: Craig Reynolds (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington) has accounted for 86 points this season, tied for fourth in KU single-season history. He is two points shy of third and 16 shy of the school-record.

LEAVING A LEGACY: Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) is in the midst of re-writing the KU record books in his senior season. He is the all-time leader with 30 career receiving touchdowns and 204 catches, and ranks second with 2,850 receiving yards (seven shy of tying record).

KELLEN'S CORNER: Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg), a two-time All-PSAC East wide receiver, ranks sixth among active Division II players in career receiving touchdowns and receiving yards, and ranks ninth in receptions. He has eight touchdowns this season - seventh in the PSAC - and has caught a pass in 38-of-39 career games, including a current streak of 16 in a row.

DEFENSIVE LEADER: Zack Delp (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) ranks seventh in school history with 293 career tackles and 13th with 15.5 career sacks. With seven tackles Saturday, he would be the fourth Golden Bear with 300 or more tackles. A two-time All-PSAC selection, Delp has made a team-high 33 consecutive starts at linebacker for KU. He has notched 10 or more tackles in 13 games in his career, including four times this season with a career-high 14 coming in Week 8 vs. Lock Haven. He leads KU with 88 tackles this season, two shy of his career-high from 2014, seventh in the PSAC at 8.8 per game.

SENSATIONAL SOPHOMORE: Tajier Jefferson (East Orange, N.J./Queen of Peace), the returning PSAC East Freshman of the Year, is second on KU with 70 tackles, tying his career-high from last season. He has four career 10+ tackle games.

PART-IN ME: Troy Parton (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) ranks fifth in the PSAC with 6.3 receptions per game. He has two double-digit catch games, highlighted by a career-high 15 catches against Mercyhurst, two shy off the school-record.

BLOCKING THE BLOCKERS: After allowing four blocked punts in the first two weeks, KU has improved its coverage with none in the last eight weeks.

MAGIC NUMBER = 24: KU head coach Jim Clements is 15-1 in his Kutztown career when holding opponents to 24 or fewer points. His only loss was to Mercyhurst earlier this season (L, 19-23).

STOPPING THE RUN: KU's success under second-year head coach Jim Clements has stood true with its defensive ability to stop the run. Under Clements, KU is 10-1 when holding its opponent to less than 100 yards rushing. His only loss was to Mercyhurst earlier this year.

SEASONED VETERANS: Offensive linemen Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest), Ben Cregger (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove), Brian Robbins (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Skyler Panchari (Pottsville, Pa./Blue Mountain) are all returning starters. Combined, they have played in 141 career games.

STARTING CENTER: Junior Ben Cregger (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) has made 32 consecutive starts at center, the longest streak of any lineman for Kutztown.

TEAM CAPTAINS: Kutztown's team captains for the 2016 season are Zack Delp (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest) and Kellen Williams (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg).

EARLY LEAD: Kutztown has led at halftime in 23 of its last 25 wins. KU's two comeback wins over that time were at Indiana (PA) in 2015, and at Shippensburg in 2016.

BIG-TIME PUNT: Brennan Scott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township (Old Dominion)) nearly put his name in the KU record books in Week 8 vs. Lock Haven. With help of a couple favorable bounces, Scott booted a 75-yard punt in the first quarter for the second-longest punt in school history behind KU All-Time Team member Jon Corson, who hit a school-record 79-yarder in 2003.

PASS ATTACK: Dating back to 2011, Kutztown has thrown 30 or more pass attempts in 41 of its last 53 games (77.4 percent).

SENIOR RB DUO: Senior running backs Darrell Scott (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and James Wah Jr. (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) are in the midst of their senior seasons. Having split carries for most of their careers, the duo has combined for 3,123 career rushing yards and 28 touchdowns to go along with 74 combined games of experience.

ALL-AMERICAN TACKLE: Returning All-American Jordan Morgan (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest) has only missed one game in his career and has started at left tackle in 42 of KU's last 43 games, including a streak of 23 consecutive starts. His top honor last year was the AP Little All-America First Team, KU's first First Team selection since John Mobley in 1995. Morgan was a consensus Preseason All-American this year.

SPECIAL TEAM SPECIALIST: Led by Sherief Sutton (York, Pa./Central York)'s team-high 15 tackles on special teams plays this season, Kutztown's kick return defense is the best in the PSAC and sixth-best in Division II, allowing 15.47 yards per return - the best in recorded school history.
