LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --Â Following a commanding 51-14 victory for the Kutztown University football team over Assumption in the 2025 season opener, redshirt junior running back
Jaedyn Stewart (Newfield, N.J./Delsea Regional) was recognized by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as its Eastern Division Offensive Athlete of the Week, Monday.
Stewart ran for a career-high 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 47 yards receiving in the victory over the Greyhounds last Thursday night.
Â
Stewart scored on runs of 62 and 39 yards in going over the 100-yard rushing mark for the third time in his career. The Newfield, N.J., native got his big night started by breaking free for a 62-yard TD run early in the second quarter. The score answered Assumption's first TD moments earlier and pushed the Golden Bears' lead back to 14 points, 21-7.
Â
Midway through the third quarter, on KU's first play from scrimmage following a more than 60-minute delay for storms, Stewart got to the left edge and raced down the sideline for a 39-yard TD on 3rd-and-35 to increase Kutztown's lead to 37-14. It was the only play the teams got in before another lengthy delay.
Â
Stewart carried the ball 10 times, averaging 15.0 yards per carry. He caught two passes for 47 yards, including a 35-yarder in the second quarter that helped set up a
Luke Maxwell (Estell Manor, N.J./Delsea Regional) 2-yard TD run.
The weekly award is the second of Stewart's career. He earned his first PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week honor on Nov. 18, 2024, after being named PSAC Championship Game MVP award with 115 yards rushing and two total TDs against California (Pa.).
The Golden Bears are on the road this Saturday, Sept. 13, to take on Edinboro. Kick is set for 1 p.m.
