KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Following Kutztown football's season and home opening victory over Assumption last Thursday night, KU jumped up one spot in the American Football Coaches Association Division II national poll, entering week two at No. 6.
The Golden Bears (1-0 overall) took down the Greyhounds (0-1) 51-14, in a wild game that took five-and-a-half hours to complete with two lightning delays and didn't conclude until Friday morning at 12:20 a.m. When they finally were able to celebrate the opening victory, there were about 50 fans left still in the stands.

Jaedyn Stewart (Newfield, N.J./Delsea Regional) was named this week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Offensive Athlete of the Week following a career-best effort of 150 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns, while also adding 47 receiving yards. He had scoring runs of 62 and 39 yards, the latter one coming on the first play following an hour delay that propelled the Maroon and Gold lead to 37-14.
The top four spots remained the same from last week as defending national champion Ferris State was at the top of the poll with 31 first place votes. Harding stayed second, followed by Grand Valley State and Slippery Rock. West Florida also rose one spot to five, ahead of Kutztown. Minnesota State, Angelo State, Western Colorado and California (Pa.) round out the top 10. The Vulcans give the PSAC three teams ranked inside the top 10 nationally.
Two other teams from Super Region One are listed in the top 25 this week with No. 13 Virginia Union of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and No. 18 Charleston of the Mountain East Conference rounding out the ranked teams from the region.
Kutztown hits the road for the first time this season and will take on Edinboro (1-0) out in the western part of the state this Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m., in a non-conference game. The Fighting Scots defeated East Stroudsburg 29-14 back on Aug. 28.
