Box Score SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team battled through near-freezing temperatures at Shippensburg University on Tuesday afternoon. It won two singles matches but dropped a 7-2 match on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
Vicki Norman and
Jessica Caples each turned in gutsy performances at two of the top three flights of singles in their individual wins. At No. 2 singles, Norman split her first two sets before winning the tiebreaker and earning a singles win of 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.
Caples won in her first match in the Maroon and Gold, and in consistent style. She won her opening set 7-5 and the second set 6-4.
Shippensburg won all three doubles matches as KU fielded five players and forfeited No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Kutztown opens its home schedule at the Keystone Courts on Friday, March 27 with a PSAC match against Millersville University. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
