EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The 2024-25 season came to a close for the Kutztown University women's tennis team with a 7-0 PSAC East defeat against playoff-bound East Stroudsburg at the Wolbers Courts on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Bears finish the campaign with a 5-11 overall record and 2-4 mark in league play. ESU, meanwhile, ends its regular season with a 17-6 record and 5-1 PSAC East record.
ESU won doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 3 to jump out to a quick 1-0 lead, despite Kutztown getting its only win of the day at No. 2 doubles, where
Emma Semery (Fuveau, France/HDN Academy) and
Ximena Bolanos (Mineral de la Reforma, Mexico/Colegio Makarenko) held off Lea Stefanovic and Ariel Kelsick, 7-5.
The Warriors went on to win 5-of-6 singles matches in straight sets.
Isabela de Nadai (Vitoria, Brazil/St. Paul's School) came back to force a third set super tiebreaker at No. 3 against Louise Boyer-Vidal before falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-2. The Golden Bears also got solid efforts from No. 5
Ryleigh Bohning (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) in a 6-3, 7-5 loss to Gianina Speranza, and No. 4 Bolanos in a 6-4, 6-2 setback to Kelsick.
