SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Coming in as the 10th seed, junior Nicole Wildermuth (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) of the Kutztown University women's track and field team pulled out a career-best performance to oust the competition and take first place in the discus on the final day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships on Saturday, hosted by Shippensburg University.

As a team, Kutztown finished in sixth place with 63 points. Shippensburg claims its fifth-straight title with 112 points, topping Slippery Rock by a mere two points with a win in the final relay of the day to regain the lead. Millersville (90), Edinboro (82), and Bloomsburg (66) rounded out the top five.

Wildermuth's career mark of 41.00m is the ninth best in Kutztown history and earns the junior her first PSAC title. Freshman Carli Thurber (Califon, NJ/West Morris Central) placed ninth in the discus with a 35.19m throw.

Staying in the field, sophomore Emma Sullivan (Phoenixville, PA/Methacton) launched 3.62m in the pole vault for fourth place. Although not a season-best, Sullivan reaches the NCAA Provisional mark for the second time this season. Following Sullivan was redshirt freshman Destiny Distasio (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) in 12th (3.32m), sophomore Justine Ebbert (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) in 16th (3.17m), and freshman Kara Funk (Dover, Pa./Dover) in 19th (3.02m).

Both Golden Bears competing in the triple jump posted career-best marks and made moves on the KU All-Time Top 10 list. Senior Sarah Kimsey (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) placed eighth with an 11.34m jump that slides her up to sixth all-time. Freshman Rebecca Tooker (Sandyston, NJ/Kittatinny) landed a spot behind with an 11.28m jump, ranking seventh in program history.

Tooker also competed in the high jump, finishing 13th at 1.54m. Senior Rachel Eshleman (Lancaster, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) wraps up her successful-PSAC career with a fourth-place finish in the high jump (1.59m).

The Golden Bears had a quality day in the sprint events, with all three setting personal marks. In the 400m finals, freshman Nicole Boldosser (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) crossed the line in a career-best 57.47. Her mark landed her in fifth place and ranks fifth on the All-Time Top 10 list. Sophomore Brandy Nice (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) also landed on the Top 10 list in the 400m hurdles. In the finals, Nice placed sixth in 1:03.74, a career-best that ranks eighth all-time. Junior Kimberly Richardson (Morton, PA/Springfield) turned in a season-best 15.05 in the 100m hurdles final to place seventh.

Senior Jenn Cleary (Chesapeake City, MD/Bohemia Manor) brings her PSAC career to an end with her best finish yet, placing fourth in the 1500m with a season-best time of 4:43.37. Junior Frances McNally (Drexel Hill, Pa./Springfield) also ran a season-best time, placing 16th in 5:02.15. In the 5000m, sophomore Corinne Manela (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) led the way with a 10th-place finish in 18:14.19, while senior Jayme Daly (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) ended with a career-best time, placing 12th in 18:23.50.

The 4x400m and 4x800m relay squads both pumped out season-best times, but the 4x100m relay team had the best finish. Torrey Hollis (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville), Allie VanZant (Media, PA/Penncrest), Evan Dangerfield (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Prendergast), and Valerie Mizansky (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) composed the 4x100 team that placed fourth in the finals. Dangerfield joined Nice, Boldosser, and Bria Evans (Philadelphia, PA/G.W. Carver of E&S) to place sixth in the 4x400, while the mid-distance crew of Cleary, Carolyn Fergus (Lansdale, PA/North Penn), McNally, and Kimberly Katzgrau (Oak Ridge, N.J./Pope John XXIII) finished ninth in the 4x800.

Up to this point, Kutztown boasts three Golden Bears with NCAA Provisional marks set throughout the season. Eshleman highlights the group with the 16th-best high jump in Division II this season. Sullivan qualifies in the pole vault and Rosealine Farrell (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) set the mark in the hammer throw.

The three Golden Bears will now wait to hear in the next two weeks whether their marks will qualify them for the NCAA National Championships in Raleigh, N.C. on May 22-24. KU as a team will compete in one more invitational before seasons-end, traveling to Charlottesville, Va. for the Cavalier Invitational on Saturday, May 10.
