LYNCHBURG, Va. – Junior distance runner Maura Lenhart (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the running group with a top 10 program time in the 5000m Friday afternoon on day one of the two-day Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational on the campus of the University of Lynchburg.
 
Lenhart finished second overall out of 17 competitors with a 17:54.77, which is the ninth-fastest time in program history. Her time was also a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying time. She was joined by both Lizzie Brown (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) and Sage Dunkleberger (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run), who earned PSAC times in the 10,000m. Faith Belote (Easton, Pa./Easton) placed fourth in the 5000m.
 
In field events, Taylor Funk (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) won the pole vault out of 18 competitors and her best clearance of 3.50m (11-5.75), was a PSAC standard. Natalie Holland (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) finished third with a 3.35m (10-11.75) and Marissa McNamee (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was fifth with a 3.20m (10-6.0). Saige Thibodeaux (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida S. Baker) had an eighth place finish in the javelin out of 26 competitors with a furthest throw of 35.65m (116-11).
 
The hammer throw was suspended due to weather, but Kennedy Bulger (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) is still competing and is in the top five so far with a best throw of 40.06m (131-5). Action is scheduled to resume tomorrow.
 
Action on day two Saturday begins with the 4x100 relay at 10:40 a.m., and on the field, the high jump at 11 a.m.
