Complete Results

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Competing through extreme wind conditions, the Kutztown University women's track and field team won five events on Saturday at the Paul Kaiser Invitational, hosted by Shippensburg University.

The Golden Bears posted 19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)-qualifying marks and one existing NCAA provisional mark, but just three new conference cuts were set due to high winds in Shippensburg.

Despite not being one of Kutztown's five event winners, Rebecca Tooker (Sandyston, NJ/Kittatinny) may have had one of the most successful days for the Maroon and Gold. Her mark of 11.22m was good for fourth overall on Saturday, but was also good for sixth all-time in school history at 36-09.73. She also posted a new PSAC mark in the high jump at 1.58m for third place overall.

Kimberly Richardson (Morton, PA/Springfield) won the 100m hurdles in a season-best and existing PSAC mark of 15.58 seconds. She was followed in the event by Torrey Hollis (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) in third (15.69) and Christina Descano (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) in 10th (16.14). The team of Hollis, Allie VanZant (Media, PA/Penncrest), Evan Dangerfield (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) and Valerie Mizansky (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) took gold in a time of 48.20 seconds. KU's 4x800 team was second in a season-best time, and its 4x400 team finished third.

Senior Rachel Eshleman (Lancaster, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) returned to action and won the high jump for her mark of 1.68m, an existing PSAC mark. Tooker and Sarah Kimsey (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) posted identical marks of 1.58m, both of which were new PSAC marks.

Sophomore Emma Sullivan (Phoenixville, PA/Methacton) won the pole vault for her mark of 3.51m. Kara Funk (Dover, Pa./Dover) had a season-best vault of 3.36m that qualified her for PSACs for the first time of her career. Justine Ebbert (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) also had a season-best vault (3.21m).

Descano won the long jump in an existing PSAC mark of 5.56m to round out Kutztown's five event winners.

In the distance events, Kutztown had a handful of competitors post season- and career-best times. In the 800, Carolyn Fergus (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) (2:25.67) and Kimberly Katzgrau (Oak Ridge, N.J./Pope John XXIII) (2:29.35) posted career-best marks in the event, as Jessica Huber (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley)'s time of 2:27.97 was her lowest of the season. In the field, Nicole Wildermuth (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) tossed a career-best mark in the discus. She posted a distance of 38.15m to finish third overall in the event. In the hammer, Rosealine Farrell (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) posted an existing NCAA provisional mark of 51.35m that was good for second overall in the field.
