Kutztown 8, Shippensburg 1 (HTML Box Score) KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team opened its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division schedule with a second straight conference win following a 8-1 victory over Shippensburg University on Wednesday at the Keystone Courts.
Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) won her eighth straight singles match and eighth straight in doubles with her partner,
Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield). Konas won in straights sets at No. 3 singles and did not allow a point against her for the fifth straight set with a pair of 6-0 wins.
Erika Diffendall (Mountville, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) won her fourth straight match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. She also teamed with
Cynthia Good (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) for a 8-5 win in doubles action.
Danielle Patterson (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) won a tiebreaker win at the sixth flight. She won the opener 6-4, but dropped the second 1-6 to force a tiebreaker. She went on to win 10-5.
Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) won at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win, and also won in doubles with partner
Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) by an 8-0 score for the third straight match.
Shippensburg's lone win of the afternoon came at No. 2 singles, a 6-4, 6-1 win.
The Golden Bears return to action on Sunday, April 6 to take on Millersville University on the road beginning at 2 p.m.
