KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's tennis team had its season come to an end on Monday afternoon as it dropped a 5-0 decision to Bluefield State College in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region One Championship at the Bluefield City Courts.
The Golden Bears (13-7) were the No. 4 seed in the regional tournament and fell to Bluefield State (20-2), the top seed and host, for the second time this season.
The three doubles matches went to Bluefield to open the match. The first and third flight of doubles went to 8-4 final scores as No. 2 doubles fell 8-2.
In singles play of the first-to-five match,
Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) dropped only his second match of the season (6-1, 6-1). Amin, this year's conference Athlete of the Year for the conference champions, returns for his senior season in 2013-14 in hopes of earning the Golden Bears a return trip to the postseason.
Bluefield also won at No. 2 singles as the other four matches were unfinished.
