HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Playing its second match in less than 10 hours, Kutztown dropped a 7-2 final to the University of Scranton.
Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) had a hand in both KU points. She teamed with
Ridhima Borooah (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School; Barakhamba Road; New Delhi) (Guwahati-Assam, India/Modern School) for an 8-1 win over the Royals' Stephanie Boccuzzi and Devon Cohen. In singles action, Pipkin again faced Boccuzi and scored a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
Scranton used three wins in super tiebreakers to seal the win.
Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) lost just 3-6, 6-4, 8-10 to Cohen at second singles in the last match completed. At fourth singles,
Stefanie Fisher (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) forced a super tiebreaker, but came up short against Cait Ehly 3-6, 6-1, 5-10.
Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) pushed Nicole Mahaffey to a super tiebreaker after dropping the first set, but Mahaffey was a 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 winner.
KU continues play in Hilton Head when the team takes on Missouri Valley College on Tuesday, March 13 at 2 p.m.
