KUTZTOWN, Pa. (April 7, 2011) – Chelsea White (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove) continued her personal roll at fourth singles during Kutztown University's 8-1 setback to Millersville University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match Thursday afternoon.
The only thing that slowed White was the weather. She had to wait two extra days to notch her fifth straight singles victory. It wasn't easy as White showed plenty of heart in winning in three grueling sets over Millersville's Shauna Powers, 6-4, 2-6, 14-12.
“Chelsea always wanted to challenge herself and lately she's taken advantage of the opportunity,” Kutztown head women's tennis coach Suresh Ramamurthi said. “I've been talking with her about her consistency. Now, she's slowing down and keeping more balls in play. She's also raised her fitness level since the fall and it's given her more confidence.”
White and Rachel Grula (Drums, PA/Hazleton Area) battled hard at No. 1 doubles before dropping an 8-5 decision. The Golden Bears (3-8 overall, 2-2 PSAC East) travel to West Chester University Saturday morning for a conference match starting at 11 a.m.
