PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS: Weeks enjoys day on the track for KU men

WEST CHESTER, PA (May 14, 2010) – Eli Weeks (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) earned a NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 800-meter run on the first day of the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships at Farrell Stadium Friday night. His effort highlighted a solid opening day for the Kutztown University track and field team. (COMPLETE DAY ONE RESULTS)

 

Weeks had the second fastest qualifying effort with a time of 1 minute, 52.69 seconds. It was Weeks' fastest time of the outdoor season. He ran a second faster than his previous best effort of 1:53.63, which was accomplished at the Paul Kaiser Invitational on April 24. Weeks' effort has Kutztown in eighth place with eight points.

 

Overall, the men enjoyed a splendid afternoon as they had several athletes earn return trips to Saturday's finals. Kori Meshaw (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) cruised to the fastest qualifying time in the 400-meter dash by running 53.13 seconds. In the 110-meter hurdles, Shane Harvey (Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon) was third (15.25 seconds) and T.J. Longmore (Lititz/Manheim Township) was sixth (15.42). Kendel Dixon (Atglen/Octorara) qualified in the 400-meter dash (48.10) after finishing seventh in the event.

 

In finals, Matt Cannell (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) was fifth in the long jump (23 feet, 1.25 inches), Greg Senatore (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) was sixth in the shot put (48-8.75) and Jacob Murray (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) was eighth in decathlon (5,219 points).

 

Action continues Saturday morning beginning at 11 a.m.
