KUTZTOWN, PA (May 12, 2010) – The Kutztown University men's outdoor track and field team will send a fleet of performers to the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at West Chester University's Farrell Stadium in the three-day meet that begins Thursday May 13 and concludes Saturday May 15. General admission tickets are $7 and student tickets are $2. Students with IDs from PSAC schools will be admitted free.

Kutztown track and field coach Ray Hoffman will have 24 student-athletes competing. The Golden Bears finished sixth at the 2009 championships with 67.50 points. Shippensburg is the reigning men's champion.

The participating male athletes are
Jacob Murray (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove), Jason Rebuck (Southampton/William Tennent), Greg Senatore (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional), Max Stramara, Matt Cannell (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone), Jack Iouse, Alec Bleacher (East Petersburg/Hempfield), Kevin Rodgers (Clifton Heights/Upper Darby), Shane Harvey (Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon), T.J. Longmore (Lititz/Manheim Township), Kori Meshaw (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield), Manny Morris, Matt Bailey (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey), Kendel Dixon (Atglen/Octorara), Eli Weeks (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts), Shaun Crump (Boyertown/Boyertown), Justin Germani (Birdsboro/Daniel Boone), William Hodges (Levittown/Neshaminy), Percell Berry (Collegeville, PA/Methacton), Frank Nick (Kintnersville/Palisades), Ryan Reich (Oley/Oley Valley), Ben Loht (Lewistown/Indian Valley)

The Golden Bears have four student-athletes who have earned NCAA Division II championship provisional qualifying performances. In the pole vault, Germani's clearance of 16 feet, 3.5 inches is the top mark in the conference and 10th best effort in Division II. Germani was named PSAC Field Performer of the Week after soaring to his season best mark at last week's Last Chance Qualifier.

The other provisional qualifiers are Iouse in the javelin (200-3), Rebuck in the hammer (183-09) and Meshaw in the 400-meter hurdles (52.71). Iouse has the third best toss in the javelin. Rebuck is seeded third in both the hammer throw and discus. Meshaw is second in the 400-meter hurdles and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles.

“We are looking for a top 6 finish on the men's side,” Hoffman said. “I feel that our strengths are the 110hurdles and the 400 hurdles as well as the pole vault. The area that I have a concern with is the throws.  We have some very talented throwers who can do some good stuff for us if they just remain focused and take it one throw at a time.”

Many of the Golden Bears are seeded in the top 10 of their respective events. Harvey ranks third in the 110-meter hurdles (14.95) and Longmore is fifth in the same event (15.04). Morris is seeded sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (54.74). Weeks is fifth in the 800-meter run (1:53.63).

Cannell and Bleacher are ranked 10th in the long jump (22-6.5) and javelin (185-0). In addition to Germani, Hodges is ninth (14-7.25) in the pole vault and Berry is 10th (14-5.25). Hodges won the PSAC indoor pole vault championship and earned All-American honors in the event.
