Women's tennis breezes past UDC for sweep

WASHINGTON, DC (March 21, 2010) - The Kutztown University women's tennis team had a doubleheader sweep over the University of District of Columbia on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Bears won each match by a score of 9-0, losing only one game in all of the sets played.

In the opener, Rohini Das and Ridhima Borooah downed their opponents 8-0 in the first doubles, while Sabrina Arnaud and Nicole Devine recorded a shutout at the No. 2 spot. In each of the matches, the No. 3 doubles duo of Megan Groh and Tess Wright were winners by default.

Each of the Golden Bears won their respective singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0. In the past two games, Das has not dropped a single game playing at the No. 1 flight. Devine extended her personal winning streak to three-straight, in the No. 2 and 3 singles spots.

In the second contest, the top doubles teams were juggled as each pair was playing together for the first time this season. The results didn't show any chemistry problems, as Das and Devine took the No. 1 doubles 8-0, while Arnaud and Chelsea White were winners by the same score in the second doubles.

Rachel Grula won in the No. 5 singles of the first match and No. 4 in the second.

The Golden Bears will return to the courts on Friday when they travel to Mercyhurst for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
