Men's tennis dropsTiffin for first win of spring season

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 10, 2010) - The Kutztown University men's tennis team had a 6-3 win over Tiffin University on Wednesday afternoon at Hilton Head.

The No. 2 doubles duo of Arpit Sharma and Kaushik Das had an 8-0 shutout over Harry Smith and Leo Vladimirov. Sharma again defeated Vladimirov in the fourth singles flight, with set scores of 6-0 and 6-2. Das came back from a 7-5 loss in the first set with a 6-3 win and wrapped up the match with a 10-6 advantage in the super tiebreaker.

Ashok Murkerjee and Cameron O'Donnell teamed up for an 8-6 win in the No. 3 doubles. Murkerjee remained undefeated on the day, with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the third singles slot.

The final Golden Bear victory came from Bobby Zerwick, who defeated Brian Coffman by set scores of 6-1, 6-7 and 10-6 in the super tiebreaker.

The Golden Bears will return to action on Thursday with a match against the University of Charleson (W.Va.).
