BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- Four Kutztown University men's tennis players took to the courts as the 2025 ITA Atlantic Regional Championships got underway Thursday at Bloomsburg University.
The Golden Bears were unable to advance any of their three singles entries or two doubles teams through the first round of their respective brackets.
In singles,
Dang Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam/) fell to Chestnut Hill's Noah Cutting 6-3, 6-0,
Nikita Safonov (Podolsk, Russia/) was defeated in straight sets by Bloomsburg's Jack Seaborn 6-2, 6-2, and
Henrique Rocha (Jaticua, Brazil/Escola SEB Maceio) was topped by Frostburg State's Cole Alcala 6-1, 6-3.
Nguyen and Rocha were knocked out of the doubles bracket in the round of 32 by Nils Pottbecker and Alberto Nordio of Charleston (W.Va.), 8-1.
Joaquin Perez (Pachuca, Mexico/Escuela Americana) and Safaonov fell to PSAC foes Gerardo Garrido and Hassan Ammar of Edinboro, 8-2.
KU will have its three singles entries competing in consolation matches on Friday.
