KUTZTOWN, PA (February 25, 2010) – The Kutztown University men's indoor track and field team will send a fleet of performers to the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at Edinboro University's Mike S. Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome in the two day meet that begins Saturday February 27 and concludes Sunday February 28.
It marks the first time that Edinboro has hosted the PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Kutztown track and field coach Ray Hoffman will have 24 student-athletes competing. The Golden Bears will look to improve on their finishes of 5th place (2008) and 6th place (2009) over the past two years. Shippensburg is the reigning men's champion.
The participating male athletes are sophomore Matt Cannell, freshman Greg Crawford, freshman Kori Meshaw, senior Shaun Crump, freshman Jonathan Byrne, sophomore Ryan Reich, senior Ben Loht, junior Kevin Rodgers, senior T.J. Longmore, junior Shane Harvey, freshman Manuel Morris, sophomore Matt Bailey, sophomore Frank Nick, sophomore Matt Reightler, senior Jason Rowles, junior Joe Tavormina, freshman Sean Gentry, junior Justin Germani, senior William Hodges, sophomore Percell Berry, sophomore Craig Sherwood, sophomore Robbie Clews, sophomore Greg Senatore, senior Jason Rebuck, freshman Michael Stramara, sophomore Mike Norris and freshman Jacob Murray.
The Golden Bears have three student-athletes who have earned NCAA Division II championship provisional qualifying performances. In the high jump, Gentry's clearance of 6 feet, eight and a quarter inches were a qualifier, while both Germani (16-0) and Hodges (15-9) earned the provisional in the pole vault.
Many of the Golden Bears are seeded in the top 10 of their respective events. Gentry ranks second in the high jump and ninth in the long jump. Also in the long jump, Cannell enters the event at the second spot with his distance of 22-11 ¼.
The Golden Bears are stacked in the top 10 in both the pole vault and 55 hurdles. In the pole
vault, Germani and Hodges enter third and fourth, respectively, Berry sits at sixth and Sherwood is ninth. In the hurdles, Longmore (5th), Harvey (8th) and Morris (10th) mark the top Golden Bears. Longmore had a fourth place finish in hurdles at the 2009 PSAC Championship.
“Anything less than a fourth place finish will be a disappointment for us,” said Longmore. “There is a lot of competition in this conference. In the hurdles there is also a lot of competition and I would like to place no worse than second place.”
Senatore (47-3 ¾)is seeded seventh in the shot put, followed by Rebuck (44-8 ¾) at 10th. Rebuck is a nine seed in the weight throw, his toss of 52-06 ranks fifth all-time at KU. Rounding out the Golden Bears in the top 10 is Sherwood, who is currently seeded 10th in the heptathlon with 4,111 points.

Adult tickets are priced at $12 for a two-day pass and $7 for a one day pass. Student tickets are $3 for both days and $2 for a single day pass. PSAC students get in free with a valid student ID.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the first event slated to start at 1 p.m. Doors will open at 9 a.m. on Sunday with the first event scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. The awards ceremony is scheduled to tentatively begin at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
