BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Kutztown men's cross country team began its 2026 regular season just a couple of miles down Route 309. KU was originally scheduled to start the year in West Chester, but pivoted to Bethlehem and competed at the Lehigh Invitational Friday afternoon.
The Golden Bears finished fifth overall out of nine teams in the field with 158 points. They had nine runners overall.
Graduate student,
Robby Lloyd (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North), paced the KU lineup, crossing the finish line 21st overall in a time of 19:17.5. He just missed out on a top-20 placing by three seconds.
The next seven Maroon and Gold runners came within just 23 spots of each other as
Cole Doms (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) ended 45th and
Connor Murphy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) was 68th. In between that duo was
Weston Fry (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and
Peyton Small (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) in 52nd and 53rd, respectively,
Sean Carpenter (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) in 58th,
Willie Wiles (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) in 61st and
Aiden Hoffman (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) in 66th.
Brett Pevec (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) rounded out the lineup in a time of 21:06.4.
Other teams competing included the host Mountain Hawks, Rutgers, Saint Joseph's, Moravian, DeSales, Muhlenberg, Ramapo and Rowan.
Kutztown will welcome a number of teams to the North Campus Course next Saturday, Sept. 12, for its annual DII/DIII Challenge, with the men's race set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
