SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown women's outdoor track & field team finished up the regular season portion of its schedule on a rainy Saturday at the Paul Kaiser Classic, hosted by Shippensburg University.
 
The Golden Bears had two hammer throwers compete on Friday evening, as Kennedy Bulger (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and Sofia Beard (York, Pa./Red Lion) suited up, with Bulger placing in the top 10 overall out of 31 throwers with a 41.03m (134-7).
 
The rest of the group went out on Saturday as a trio of Golden Bears earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying standards, two on the track and another recorded two in field events.
 
Jensen Kraft (Nutley, N.J./Saint Mary) and Faith Belote (Easton, Pa./Easton) both earned the PSAC times in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the finish line second and third, respectively. Maria Clark (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) won the discus with a top throw of 40.95m (134-4) and then finished second in the shot put at 12.21m (40-0.75).
 
The 4x100 relay team, consisting of Andrea Danciu (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin), Beth Schearer (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), Maggie Coleman (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) and Brook Smith (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) finished second overall, and each of Emma Newton (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and Isabella Hughes (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Schuylkill Haven) ended fourth in the 800m and 400m hurdles, respectively.
 
Kutztown will now turn its attention to the postseason when it will have a number of student-athletes come right back to Shippensburg for the PSAC Outdoor Championships, beginning next Thursday, April 30, and running through Saturday, May 2.
