KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team ranks third in the Atlantic Region in the first NCAA Division II National Power Index (NPI) rankings released Monday morning.
Â
Kutztown has an NPI of 59.825, the 11th-best in Division II women's soccer. Â KU enters the week with a 10-1-2 overall record and an 8-1-1 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
Â
The maroon and gold have made 13 NCAA Division II Championship appearances in program history, compiling a record of 8-14. KU made its farthest postseason run in 2016, advancing to the national semifinals (final four).
Â
Kutztown is one of five PSAC teams featured in the rankings, alongside West Chester, Slippery Rock, Shepherd, and Gannon. The Golden Bears rank second among the five conference teams represented.
Â
The NPI is a new ranking system adopted by Division II for the 2026-27 academic year to help evaluate teams for NCAA Tournament selection. The system uses a data-driven formula that considers a team's wins and losses, strength of schedule, and quality of opponents.
Unlike traditional rankings, the NPI evaluates teams on a national scale, allowing programs from different conferences and regions to be compared using the same system.
Monday's rankings are the first of many to be released, as a new set will be released next Monday before transitioning to daily rankings, Monday through Friday, beginning the week of October 26.
Â
The Golden Bears return to action Wednesday, Oct. 14, hosting Lackawanna at 7 p.m. at Keystone Field.
