KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Junior
Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) put forth a round of 4-over par 76 that included three birdies on her way to the top of the leaderboard after Monday's opening round of the Millersville Fall Classic at Berkleigh Golf Club.
Graham's score marked the fifth lowest round of her collegiate career. She had an outstanding front nine with birdies on par 4s at No. 1 and No. 2, before adding seven pars to shoot 1-over 36. She added another birdie on the par 4, 364-yard 17th and four more pars to shoot 3-over 40 coming in. The Carlisle, Pa., native heads into the final 18 holes on Tuesday tied with West Chester's Margaux Solis for medalist honors.
Freshman
Livia Andov (Pekanbaru, Indonesia) continued her strong play to start the season with a new low round of 81 (+9). Andov collected her only birdie of the round on No. 8, a par 4 playing at 339 yard, and totaled seven pars to rank tied for 11th in the overall standings out of 64 players.
Kutztown has shown early on that it has a lineup capable of putting up competitive scores throughout the lineup.
Eva Moawad (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) reinforced that with an 84 (+12) that included two birdies and five pars. The freshman from Harrisburg, Pa., sank a birdie on the 315-yard, par 4 fourth and recorded another at No. 12, a 117-yard, par 3. She shot 3-over 40 on the back nine.
Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) carded an 88 with five pars to round out the scoring for the Maroon and Gold, while
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) had three pars on the front nine during her round of 95.
The Golden Bears also entered three players as individuals.
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) led the way among those players with an 87. She clicked off six pars, including a stretch of four straight between holes 12-15.
Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) had a 94 with three pars and
Alana Cristino (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) shot 96 with four pars.
Kutztown is currently third in the team standings with a 41-over 329. West Chester grabbed a 14 shot lead after the first round with a 313 (+25). Adelphi is second at 327 (+39), while Clarion (337, +49) and Millersville (339, +51) round out the top five behind Kutztown.
The final round from Berkleigh GC, home of the PSAC Championship, is scheduled to tee off at 10 a.m., Tuesday.
