KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Kutztown University women's golf got a standout performance from
Eva Moawad (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and
Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) placed second overall as the Golden Bears claimed a third-place team finish following the final round of the Millersville Fall Classic at Berkleigh Golf Club, Tuesday.
Moawad led the Golden Bears with a career-best round of 79 (+7). The Harrisburg, Pa., native collected birdies on No. 2, a 271-yard par 4, and No. 8, a 339-yard par 4. She also tallied seven pars on the day and finished 18th in the individual standings with a 36-hole total of 163 (84-79).
Graham had another solid day for KU, putting up a team-high eight pars and a birdie on No. 8, on her way to an 8-over par 80. Though she wasn't able to hold her share of the lead after an opening round 76, the junior tied for second with a two-day total of 156 (76-80) for her 16th career top five tournament finish.
Livia Andov (Pekanbaru, Indonesia) had a birdie on No. 2 to supplement six pars during her round of 88. Andov finished tied for 26th after shooting 169 for the tournament (81-88).
Just outside the top 30 was
Grace Klements (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional) in a tie for 31st. The junior from Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J., cut four strokes off her first round score with an 84 Tuesday. She matched Graham and
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) for the team lead in pars with eight and sank a birdie putt on the par 3, 117-yard 12th. Klements registered a two-day total of 172 (88-84).
Cohen went on a solid par run on the front nine, converting seven to make the turn at 2-over 37. She added one more on the back nine to tie for the team lead in that category and complete a solid round of 85 following a 95 on Monday. Cohen tied for 41st at 180.
Kutztown was also represented by
Alana Cristino (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) (96-104=200) and
Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) (94-109=203) in Tuesday's second round.
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) did not take part in the final round after shooting 87 on Monday.
West Chester ran away with the team title by bettering its score from Monday by eight shots. The Golden Rams recorded a 42-over par 618 for the tournament (313-305), 25 strokes ahead of runner-up Adelphi (327-316=643). Kutztown placed third at 657 (329-328), with host Millersville (339-325=664) and Bloomsburg (342-331=673) completing the top five.
The Golden Rams also put three golfers in the top five of the individual standings, led by medalist Cara Murphy. Murphy shot 9-over 153 for the tournament (77-76). Teammate Hanna Lignell shared second with Kutztown's Graham at 156.
The Golden Bears are next scheduled to compete in the Jefferson Rams Fall Invitational at Jeffersonville Golf Club in Norristown, Pa., on Thursday, Sept. 25.
