KUTZTOWN, Pa. – During the summer months, Kutztown athletics takes a break from competition. So, what do Golden Bear student-athletes like to do in their down time? Over the next month, we will be catching up with some KU Golden Bears.
 
Jordan Nkoa Abessolo (Yaoundé, Cameroon/St. Maria Goretti (Md.)) – Men's Basketball – Senior
 
What is your favorite thing about summer?
- Definitely the longer days and all the sunlight. It gives me more time to be outside and active—and honestly, it reminds me of being back in Africa. That warmth and energy feels like home. 
 
What is your favorite thing to do during the summer?
- For me, it's a mix of staying active and staying productive. I love playing basketball in the evenings and going to the beach with friends. But this summer, I've also been focused on career goals, especially my accounting internship.
 
Favorite vacation spot you've been to? One place you haven't been to yet, but would like to?
- My favorite vacation spot so far has been California, especially Venice Beach. The vibe there is unmatched. A place I haven't been to yet but really want to visit is Las Vegas. 
 
What have you been up to/current plans this summer from a sport perspective?
- I've been staying in shape, getting shots up when I can, and doing strength training. Even though I'm working a lot this summer, I always make time to stay active—it helps keep my mind sharp and focused too.
 
What's a song you can jam out to that makes you feel like it's summer?
- "Essence," by Wizkid and Tems. It's smooth, warm, and reminds me of where I come from. It definitely gives me that perfect summer vibe.
 
What do you miss about KU during the summer months?
- Definitely hanging out with my teammates and friends on campus.
 
Favorite place to be on campus when it's a nice, sunny and warm day?
- The benches by the academic buildings. It's a peaceful spot to sit, enjoy the weather, and take in the quiet side of campus life.
 
Favorite summer dessert/treat?
- Vanilla ice cream—literally anything with vanilla in it is a win for me.
 
Favorite way to keep cool during the summer?
- I like to find a spot with good AC and just cool down for a while even though I actually enjoy the heat.
 
Any summer traditions you do with friends/family that you enjoy?
- Every summer, we do a seafood boil. It's kind of become a tradition now.
 
What do you look forward to most about returning to KU in August?
- Getting back on the court with my teammates and making this final season something special and unforgettable.
