BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Kutztown's relay team success continued on the weekend. One day after the DMR team earned the silver medal, the 4x4 relay team, consisting of
Kiana Young (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg),
Taniyah Lawler (Chester, Pa./Chester),
Beth Schearer (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and
Raechel Bonner (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) brought home gold as KU women's track & field finished fifth overall out of 14 teams Sunday at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Championships inside Rauch Fieldhouse at Lehigh University.
It is the highest finish at PSACs for the Golden Bears since the 2021-22 season when they were also fifth. Their 58.5 team points was just 0.5 points shy of Millersville for fourth.
The quartet, who hold the school record in the event, won the PSAC Indoor Championship in the 4x4 relay for the second straight year. It is also the fourth time in program history a 4x4 relay team has won gold. They crossed the finish line this year at 3:55.66.
Bonner earned the silver medal in the 400m final with a time of 58.08 and eight team points, while placing sixth in the 200m final for three team points. Also on the track,
Mackey Donovan (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) placed fourth in the 800m for five points, while both Schearer and
Jaelyn D'Amelio (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) finished fifth in the 200m final and 3000m, respectively, for four points. D'Amelio's 10:19.65 ranks eighth all-time in program history.
Deandra Young (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and
Sophia Knerr (Columbia, N.J./North Warren Regional) both crossed the finish line eighth overall in the mile and 3000m, respectively, for one point each.
