DMR, Funk medal for Golden Bears on first day of PSAC Indoor Championships

Kutztown holds seventh in the team standings after winning two bronze medals and scoring points in four events.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's track & field team got bronze medal performances from its distance medley relay team and Taylor Funk (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) in the pole vault on Saturday as the Golden Bears moved into seventh-place at the 2026 PSAC Indoor Championships held inside Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse.

Mackey Donovan (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee), Isabella Hughes (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Schuylkill Haven), Olivia Solomon (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) and Jensen Kraft (Nutley, N.J./Saint Mary) were the Golden Bears' representatives in the DMR. The quartet combined to run the fourth-best time in school history with a 12:15.01 to finish third. Donovan went out with a 3:46.27 across the first 1200 meters to put KU into second place. The Bears were in eighth when Kraft began the final 4000 meters and the senior from Nutley, N.J. came up big by picking up five spots to catapult Kutztown into the medals and All-PSAC Third Team honors with a 4:58.99 leg.

Funk won her first career PSAC medal by tying for third place in the pole vault. The junior from Denver, Pa., who placed fourth at last year's Indoor Championships, cleared 3.50m (11-5.75) to collect 5.5 points towards Kutztown's team total.

Kutztown also got point-scoring efforts from Kennedy Bulger (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) in the weight throw and Maura Lenhart (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) in the 5000m.

Bulger enjoyed a massive jump up the standings in her second PSAC Indoor Championships after finishing 17th a year ago. The senior took fifth with a new personal record throw of 14.88m (48-10).

Lenhart also recorded a PR in the 5k with an 18:14.79 to take eighth.

Slippery Rock leads the women's team standings with 50 points after Saturday's scored events. Bloomsburg (30) and Shippensburg (27.5) are the rest of the top three.

The PSAC Indoor Championships conclude on Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. Kutztown will have athletes in the 800m, mile, 3000m, 4x400m relay and shot put.
