YORK, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's swim team secured a seventh-place team finish in their first PSAC Championships since 2009 as competition concluded from the Graham Aquatic Center, Thursday.
 
Despite being at deficit numbers-wise in their first year back as a varsity program, the Golden Bears performed well in their relays and made the most of their entries to wrap up a successful comeback season.
 
Kutztown collected 132 points over the four-day meet, nine better than eighth-place Edinboro.
 
It was a light final day for the Maroon and Gold. During morning qualifying heats, RJ Otten (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) swam the ninth-quickest 200-yard breaststroke time in program history with a 2:14.63 to rank 26th of 31 competitors. Teammate Theo Miksa (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) was 29th in 2:15.78.
 
Matheson Bair (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) registered a 47.34 for 23rd in the 100 freestyle.
 
The 400 free relay team of Bair, Colby Orndorf (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin), Nigel Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Theo Miksa (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) earned 22 points in the team standings with a season-best 3:16.25 to cap the meet during Thursday evening's finals session.
